Upload your property video to YouTube or Vimeo first. All three major UK portals accept a YouTube or Vimeo link, and on Rightmove those two hosts play inside the listing while other hosts open in a pop-up. OnTheMarket also takes a direct file upload, limited to .mp4 or .mov files of up to 150MB.
The steps below use the menu names from each portal's own help pages. If you list through a data feed from your CRM, the route is different, and Rightmove says tours should be added through the feed.
Before you start
Have these ready for each property:
- the video hosted online, with a privacy setting that lets anyone with the link watch it
- the full URL of the video page
- a short caption, such as "Video tour" or "Walk-through video"
- a decision on whether you offer online viewings of the property, so you can set the online viewing option correctly
Rightmove's help says the video must be hosted online. For Zoopla, the URL field is the only route covered in the help articles we checked. For OnTheMarket you can choose between a link and an upload.
If your listings go to the portals through a data feed, the manual steps may not apply. Rightmove's help says agents who list by data feed add tours via the feed. Ask your software provider which field in your CRM carries the video URL.
Rightmove, step by step
Rightmove's customer FAQ (modified 16 April 2026) and its agent hub article (12 June 2024) describe the same route.
- Log in to Rightmove Plus.
- Go to Properties, then Property List.
- Find the property and open the Media tab.
- Under Additional media, select edit.
- Select add link.
- Enter the video URL and a caption, then save.
- If you offer online viewings of the property, use the Online Viewing tick box.
YouTube and Vimeo links embed on the listing, so the buyer watches without leaving Rightmove. Links to other hosts still work, but they open in a pop-up window.
Zoopla, step by step
Zoopla's support articles describe the route through ZooplaPro.
- Log in to ZooplaPro.
- Go to Manage listings and open the listing.
- Find the Video / Virtual tours section.
- Paste the link into the Video/Virtual tour URLs field.
- Save. Zoopla says the tour goes live within the hour.
Zoopla's approved players are Vimeo, YouTube, Audio Agent, Vistabee, Vieweet and Property Tours. A second Zoopla support article also lists Matterport. Links from hosts that are not approved appear under Additional links on the listing instead.
The video icon on Zoopla's search results needs a Premium Listing. A standard listing can carry a video, but it will not show the icon in the results list.
OnTheMarket, step by step
OnTheMarket's help centre article on adding a video tour is dated 6 October 2026, the most recent of the portal pages we checked.
- Open the listing and go to Documents & media.
- Select Upload, then Virtual tour.
- Either upload a file or add a YouTube or Vimeo URL.
- If you upload, use an .mp4 or .mov file of no more than 150MB.
- If you offer online viewings of the property, turn on Online viewing available.
The 150MB limit matters for long or high-resolution tours. If your export is larger, you have two practical options: export a shorter cut or a smaller file from your editing software, or host the full version on YouTube or Vimeo and add the link instead.
Which video and virtual tour hosts each portal accepts
| Portal | How you add video | Hosts that play in the listing | Other hosts | Online viewing setting |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rightmove | Link under Additional media | YouTube, Vimeo (embedded) | Open in a pop-up | Online Viewing tick box |
| Zoopla | Link in Video/Virtual tour URLs | Vimeo, YouTube, Audio Agent, Vistabee, Vieweet, Property Tours (Matterport in a second article) | Shown under Additional links | Not covered in the articles we checked |
| OnTheMarket | Upload or link in Documents & media | Uploaded .mp4 or .mov up to 150MB, YouTube, Vimeo | Not covered in the article we checked | Online viewing available |
The simplest way to cover all three portals with one file is to host the video on YouTube or Vimeo and use the same link everywhere.
What the 2021 Rightmove figures showed
The figures below come from Rightmove, published on 25 February 2021. They are more than five years old, and we found no 2025 or 2026 figures from any portal.
At the time, Rightmove reported:
- sales listings with a video or virtual tour had risen from 2% in January 2020 to 34%
- lettings listings with a video or virtual tour had risen from 1% to 17%
- of buyers sent Rightmove's automated video email, 62% opened it, and 80% of those who opened it watched the video
These figures show how quickly agents added video during that period and that buyers did watch it when prompted. They do not tell you what share of listings carry video today.
After you publish
Check the listing as a buyer would see it, on a phone as well as a computer.
- Play the video from the listing page and confirm it starts.
- On Rightmove, confirm whether it embeds or opens in a pop-up, which tells you whether the host is one Rightmove embeds.
- On Zoopla, confirm the tour sits in the video section and has not dropped into Additional links.
- Make sure the online viewing setting matches what you actually offer.
- If the asking price changes and the video shows the old price, edit or replace the video. A priced video can count as an invitation to purchase under the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024, explained in the CMA's Unfair commercial practices (CMA207) guidance.
Portal menus change. If a menu name here no longer matches what you see, the portal help pages listed under Sources are the place to check first.
